Juanjo Nieto se ha convertido en el mejor lateral derecho de La Liga Smartbank en su segunda temporada en la categoría de plata. Tras llegar del Hércules, el de Castellón no ha parado de crecer en el Oviedo y ya está generando interés en equipos de La Liga Santander. A sus 26 años de edad, está en el mejor momento de su vida deportiva.

 

De niño prodigio en el Hércules a ídolo en Oviedo

Dejó su ciudad natal tras pasar por todas las categorías del Castellón, despuntar en División de Honor juvenil y debutar en el primer equipo, que jugaba en Tercera División. Todo ello por un objetivo claro que a día de hoy sigue manteniendo, jugar en la primera categoría del fútbol español.

En el verano de 2013 partió hacia Valladolid para jugar en el filial del equipo pucelano. Allí coincidió con Rubén de la Barrera, entrenador que le cambió la carrera. El técnico gallego no contaba con él como delantero y en un amistoso le puso de lateral derecho. El mismo Juanjo Nieto reconoce que se tuvo que adaptar a base de mucho esfuerzo y sacrificio. Tuvo que aprender a defender, los movimientos y cambiar la mentalidad.

En la 15/16 partió hacia el mediterráneo para jugar en el Atlético Baleares y más tarde en el Mallorca B, donde llegaría a debutar con el primer equipo en La Liga Smartbank. En la 17/18 volvió a la Comunidad Valenciana para jugar en el Hércules, del que sigue guardando un buen recuerdo y tras llegar a los play off de ascenso. A pesar de que no pudo subir de categoría, llamó la atención del Oviedo. Michu, el mítico delantero español que en aquel momento era director deportivo del conjunto oviedista, apostó por él a pesar de que ya tenían en plantilla dos laterales derechos.

 

 

La explosión de Juanjo Nieto

Aunque de que debutó con una expulsión contra el Lugo a los 47 minutos de partido, el rendimiento de Juanjo Nieto no ha parado de mejorar desde que llegó. Él mismo reconoce que al principio le costó el cambio de categoría, pero se adaptó rápido y ganó el premio a mejor jugador de su equipo la temporada pasada. Todo esto en la campaña más convulsa en el Oviedo en los últimos años y con hasta tres entrenadores.

Este curso no solo está siendo el mejor jugador del Oviedo junto a Sergio Tejera, sino que se ha convertido en el mejor de su posición a pesar de que su equipo no está en los puestos altos de la clasificación. Es cierto que vive un buen momento, pero Juanjo Nieto tiene los pies en el suelo:

«Para mí, estar en el Oviedo es un logro y cuando llegué el año pasado no me conformaba con no jugar. Ahora no me conformo con estar jugando y quiero mejorar las cosas que no hago bien. Es cierto que la renovación se paró, pero en ese momento era difícil para el club por temas de límite salarial y no hubo acuerdo».

 

 

¿Cuál es su encaje en el Real Oviedo?

El Oviedo, aunque actualmente tiene a Ziganda de entrenador, lleva dos temporadas consecutivas, las dos de Juanjo Nieto en el equipo, jugando con un 4-2-2, sea el técnico que sea. En este esquema, la principal arma ofensiva es la banda derecha, con el lateral de Castellón y Marco Sangalli de extremo generando ventajas constantemente desde el regate, la velocidad y la verticalidad.

La doble punta se ve muy beneficiada de lo productiva que es esa pareja, gracias a los centros que se producen desde esa zona. Además de que permite dividir distracciones y hacer que hombres como Borja Sánchez, Nahuel Leiva o Sergio Tejera se sientan más cómodos con el balón en los pies. Todo esto contrasta con la banda izquierda, que últimamente ocupa Lucas Ahijado, que es en realidad lateral derecho. Esto supone que el equipo dependa más inclusive de la profundidad que aporta Juanjo Nieto por el otro costado.

 

¿Cómo juega Juanjo Nieto?

Juanjo Nieto es un lateral moderno, un delantero reconvertido que actúa como una espada afilada por los mejores herreros por la banda del Tartiere, pero ante todo, es competitivo. Esa competitividad, le hizo reciclarse a una nueva posición, ganarse el puesto en una categoría superior a pesar de las dificultades y convertirse en el mejor lateral de la temporada. Esto se refleja en parte, en los duelos individuales que gana en el suelo, un 65%.

Su etapa como delantero le permite tener una gran capacidad para producir en ataque, registrando 1 gol y 4 asistencias. Además, esa formación en posiciones más adelantadas le ha otorgado mayor facilidad para zafarse de los rivales en defensas más estáticas y regatear en parado, a diferencia de muchos otros laterales que necesitan ir al espacio para poder desbordar en velocidad.

Muestra de ello son los 1,4 regates completados por partido, el 68% de los que intenta. El dato coge aún más relevancia si lo comparamos con su compañero Marco Sangalli, que aunque tiene un porcentaje de acierto muy similar, produce un 0,7; es decir, la mitad.

En defensa se puede pensar que sufre debido a que no estaba acostumbrado a jugar de lateral, pero lo cierto es que está mejorando los registros del curso pasado, en el que ya fue elegido el mejor de su equipo, pasando de ser regateado 0,9 veces por encuentro a hacerlo 0,4. Su velocidad le permite corregir a campo abierto y ya está acostumbrado a jugar con la línea defensiva más abajo, por lo que es adaptable a varios esquemas.

El castellonense va mejorando año tras año y seguramente le veamos la temporada que viene en La Liga Santander, aunque él mismo ha reconocido que está centrado en el Oviedo hasta que acabe el curso.
