Juanjo Narváez ha tenido que dar un paso adelante ante la falta de gol de sus compañeros en su primera temporada como jugador del Real Zaragoza. De hecho, está siendo su campaña más goleadora en La Liga Smartbank. El colombiano se ha destapado como la referencia ofensiva de su equipo y es uno de los futbolistas preferidos de la afición por su personalidad dentro y fuera del campo.
El difícil camino de Juanjo Narváez en el fútbol español
El colombiano dio sus primeros pasos en el mundo del fútbol jugando para el Deportivo Pasto de su ciudad natal. En la 12/13, a sus 16 años, el Real Madrid le fichó para las categorías inferiores, en concreto el Juvenil B. En la 15/16 subió al Castilla, pero en el mercado de invierno de esa misma campaña, el Betis apuesta por él y le contrata para su filial.
La temporada siguiente sube al primer equipo de la mano de Quique Setién y, tras no contar con minutos, se va cedido al Córdoba. En el equipo blanquiverde logra con sus 5 goles, junto a otros refuerzos invernales como José Antonio Reyes, una salvación casi imposible en La Liga Smartbank.
«Fue una experiencia increíble; he estado en clubs como el Sevilla, Real Madrid y Atlético de Madrid, pero lo que viví en Córdoba fue único», Juanjo Narváez en una entrevista en Marca.
Tras ese logro, Narváez encadena dos cesiones a Almería y Las Palmas en las siguientes campañas, donde se termina asentando en La Liga Smartbank, pero sigue sin explotar. El pasado verano el Zaragoza lo ficha en propiedad. Lalo Arantegui necesitaba rellenar el vacío de jugadores como Javi Puado o Luis Suárez y Narváez es el elegido para coger el testigo de su compatriota colombiano en la delantera.
La apuesta es tal que es fichado en propiedad, aunque el club verdiblanco, según El Periódico de Aragón, obtendría 400.000 euros en caso de ascenso y 250.000 más en caso de llegar a una cifra de partidos en la élite, además de un 20% de sus derechos económicos en caso de una futura venta.

Juanjo Narváez y el Zaragoza, una relación que supera dificultades
En esta temporada, cuando más lo necesitaban, Narváez ha conseguido sus mejores registros goleadores. A pesar de estar en la jornada 24, el colombiano lleva 7 goles y 2 asistencias. En años anteriores, su mejor registro se produjo jugando para Las Palmas el curso pasado, consiguiendo las mismas cifras pero en más encuentros.
Se ve claramente una evolución en un futbolista del que se esperaba mucho cuando era más joven. A sus 25 años (cumple los 26 el 12 de febrero), está alcanzando una madurez en su juego y se está definiendo como futbolista.
Fuera del campo también se ha mostrado como un jugador clave, saliendo a hablar a la prensa en momentos duros e importantes. Además propuso una iniciativa en redes sociales para dar de comer a los más afectados por la pandemia, recordando la implicación de Marcus Rashford con los comedores sociales infantiles.
¿Cuál es su encaje en el Zaragoza?
El Zaragoza ha empleado varios esquemas esta temporada, influido en parte por los continuos cambios de entrenador. Aun así, Narváez siempre ha ocupado posiciones en tres cuartos de campo, ya que sea de segundo punta o de extremo izquierdo. Él mismo ha declarado que le gustaría jugar en una posición más centrada, aunque donde mejor rinde es partiendo desde banda a pierna cambiada.

La recuperación del mejor Igbekeme, la irrumpción de Francho, Francés o Chavarría y la entrada en el once de Bermejo son otros factores que están influyendo en la buena racha del equipo. Narváez necesita libertad en ataque pero se está destapando como un delantero capaz de hacer gol de varias formas diferentes.
En defensa es un jugador sacrificado en la presión. Gana un 51% de los duelos que disputa y suele jugar la mayor parte de minutos en los partidos. Además no es un jugador propenso a las tarjetas, ya que solo le han sacado dos amarillas hasta el momento durante esta campaña.
El colombiano ha encontrado su sitio en el Real Zaragoza y la mejoría del club maño pasa, entre otras cosas, por sus goles, por lo que a pesar del interés de otros equipos la relación entre club y jugador está en un gran momento.
