La Real Sociedad de Imanol Alguacil ha sido uno de los equipos sensación de La Liga 22/23. Un salto que se ha potenciado con el añadido de una línea defensiva regular e inexpugnable. Gracias a los amigos de Relevo, se pudo ver una charla en la sede de Vocento sobre salud mental donde el portero de Cascante, junto a otros profesionales de la psicología deportiva como Mar Rovira, Alejandro García y Elena Beltza, estuvieron durante unas horas hablando de la importancia del bienestar emocional en un deportista. Pero si hay que rescatar algo con mayor prioridad, ese es el proyecto que tiene Álex Remiro entre manos.

A dejar huella

Fútbol Más España es una ONG que promueve la inclusión, la educación y el bienestar de los más jóvenes en relación con el deporte rey. En ella colabora Remiro, que a finales de 2022 anunció un proyecto en conjunto con Elena Beltza sobre el bienestar emocional en el fútbol base de Gipuzkoa. La hoja de ruta es tener dos psicólogos deportivos que estarán en 50 clubes de la provincia. Talleres prácticos, cursos en línea y una línea telefónica abierta serán los puntos esenciales, además de las visitas presenciales del portero de la Real Sociedad.

Remiro, concienciado por su experiencia personal, dejó una reflexión para tomar nota: «Tenemos una responsabilidad para ayudar en la salud mental. Tenemos un altavoz, hay que mojarse. Después del Covid, se incrementó el número de suicidios. No puede ser que haya gente que tenga que esperar tres meses para que sea atendido».

En relación con el fútbol base, Remiro y Elena tuvieron un debate interesante sobre la presencia de los padres en los campos de fútbol a la hora de ver a sus hijos. El arquero fue tajante: «Les prohibiría la entrada a los entrenamientos. Hay que saber separar el fútbol como niño. No puede haber padres que se sigan insultando o insulten a niños y niñas».

La pieza clave de Remiro

Mar Rovira es la prestigiosa psicóloga deportiva (ex jugadora de baloncesto) que cambió la vida de Remiro. En una de sus cesiones al Levante, con 22 años no jugaba y se definió como ‘un niñato’ en aquella etapa. Su relación profesional no cuajó en el primer intento, pero Mar le dio una segunda oportunidad. En un momento de la charla, Remiro dio un alegato sincero: «Me ha ayudado a crecer y a ser feliz. Quiero darte las gracias. Nunca te lo había dicho».

En un intercambio de sensaciones del trabajo de la psicóloga con deportistas de diferentes disciplinas, el guardameta reconoció que ha visto a otros compañeros romper a llorar en un entrenamiento: «Siempre les digo que hablen con un psicólogo, que se olviden de lo que puedan decir los demás». Por otro lado, ambos coincidieron que a pesar de la sobreexcitación por querer ser mejor, entrenar más o la falta de autocrítica, en aquellos años que no jugaba y entrenaba al máximo nivel, como cuando era canterano del Athletic, le ha servido para estar donde está hoy.

En la relación con el Remiro portero y compañero, El Otro Balón le pregunta acerca de si esos momentos frágiles tanto de dudas como de salud mental le han pesado en el campo más que su objetivo de parar: «Yo siempre puedo hacer mucho más, pero debo dar naturalidad al error. También reconozco que he llegado a sentir que no quiero que el balón vuelva a pasar por mi lado. La clave es intentar darle la vuelta a la situación».

La importancia del entorno

Muchas veces, cuando simplemente uno pasa por una mala época, decide quedarse todo para adentro y no contar nada a los suyos. Imaginen el nudo que puede generar esto en una situación crítica de salud mental. Es ahí donde a Remiro se le pregunta por la importancia del compañero y a la vez, el rival por el puesto de la portería en un equipo.

El arquero de la Real confiesa que con todos ha tenido una buena relación, pero hay una que está por encima de las demás y esa es la de Miguel Ángel Moyá, su primer compañero en la Real Sociedad, que la definió de la siguiente manera: «Sin él, no sería el Remiro que soy hoy, aunque esto puedo decirlo de muchos compañeros. Nunca podré olvidar como Imanol gestionó nuestra relación. Moyá empezó de titular en la primera jornada, pero a su vez, le cogió y le dijo que no permitiera que yo bajara el pistón. Es más, uno de sus objetivos era cuidarme. Somos uña y carne».

Además, también comentó su experiencia con Matt Ryan. Una rivalidad llena de competitividad, pero donde cabía el lado humano. Tanto fue el nivel de ambas, que Remiro aprendió inglés para integrar al cancerbero australiano.

Quién sabe si lo que sólo ha comenzado en Guipúzcoa es la primera piedra para que algún día llegue a ser en ámbito nacional.
