Desde aquella temporada 2018/2019 de ensueño que realizó el Ajax de Ámsterdam de Erik Ten Hag, el mundo del fútbol sigue expectante por ver cómo evoluciona el proyecto del equipo más laureado de los Países Bajos. Si bien es cierto que los Ajacieden son una de las mejores canteras del fútbol europeo, últimamente también está invirtiendo en perlas jóvenes de otras ligas, incluso acudiendo a mercados fuera del continente europeo. Es el caso de Antony, un brasileño que está más que preparado para vaciar el hueco de Hakim Ziyech.
El Ajax, siempre rápido en el mercado
El Ajax aceptó la oferta del Chelsea de 40 millones por Ziyech y por tanto, Marc Overmars movió ficha rápidamente. Adquirieron al carioca por una valor cercano a los 16 kilos en el mes de febrero. Un traspaso que supone que el futbolista de 19 años esté en la capital neerlandesa los próximos cinco años. Y el que fuera extremo del F.C Barcelona, Arsenal o el propio Ajax, habló claramente sobre Antony en cuanto se hizo oficial el fichaje:
“Tenemos que ser pacientes para que Antony debute con nosotros. Eso sí, hemos adquirido a un jugador que puede jugar en cualquier posición de ataque”.
Una pugna en la que Overmars, que algo sabrá de extremos, tuvo que luchar contra otras direcciones deportivas, como las de el Borussia Dortmund o el Manchester City.
Antony, otro canterano del Sao Paulo
Natural de Osasco, Antony ha desarrollado su carrera en el Sao Paulo. Ya en la cantera, cuando viene del Gremio, destaca de manera fulgurante todas las temporadas. El punto clave, 2018. Gracias a su intervención en el torneo J League Challenge, el Sao Paulo se hizo con el trofeo y él fue el MVP del campeonato. En ese mismo año, debuta con el primer equipo y empieza a ser fijo en la posición de extremo derecho.
Un caso que recuerda al de Neres, que también procedía de la tricolor paulista. Pero si se analiza bien, el Ajax se está especializando en pescar perlas en el mercado sudamericano. Además del país pentacampeón del mundo, también adquirió a jugadores como Edson Álvarez, Lisandro Magallán, Lisandro Martínez, Nicolás Tagliafico o el estadounidense Sergino Dest, formado al 100% en la cantera.
El dulce inicio de Antony en el Ajax
Antony ya ha podido demostrar de lo que es capaz en noventa minutos disputados (45′ repartidos en dos amistosos). En el primer encuentro ante el RKC Waalwijk entró en la segunda mitad y consiguió anotar un doblete en su debut. El partido acabó 6-1. En el segundo (5-1 ante el Utrecht), tuvo menos incidencia en el resultado aunque destacó notablemente en el juego del actual campeón de la Eredivisie.

¿Cómo juega Antony? un extremo clásico, de los de antes
Si te suena su fichaje, quizás fue por la campaña publicitaria que hizo el Ajax para anunciar su llegada, a ritmo de samba y de rap, con la colaboración de sus compañeros Neres y Danilo Pereira. Un spot original que aporta muy bien lo que puede suponer el fichaje de Antony.
Un extremo a la vieja usanza porque juega a pierna cambiada. Tiene una zurda que es una delicia de ver por cómo hace la misma jugada de forma repetida y su disparo con la misma. Además, es un velocista nato, tanto con balón como sin él, ideal para equipos que sufren al contraataque. Por si fuera poco, destaca por tener una gran visión de juego en el último pase, en el centro largo, que hace que sea un jugador de equipo, aspecto que quizás le faltaba a Ziyech.

¿Qué puede aportar Antony al Ajax?
Como bien apunta Overmars, su polivalencia ofensiva es su punto estrella. Es un futbolista que te puede jugar por la derecha, por la izquierda, de mediapunta e incluso de delantero. De hecho, en su estreno ocupó los dos carriles, alternando esa posición con el canterano Noa Lang. Como bien se sabe, Ten Hag es un enamorado de los atacantes polivalentes, como ya se ha podido ver en otros componentes de la plantilla como Neres, Dusan Tádic, Zakaria Labyad o en Donny Van de Beek.
Tras la marcha de Ziyech y la posible de Neres, aunque sus continuas lesiones quizás no le haga salir finalmente esta temporada, Antony es un fichaje bien visto por parte de toda la parcela técnica del Ajax. En un equipo en el que tampoco hay un delantero centro definido, ya que disputan el puesto el veterano Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Labyad o la promesa de la cantera Lassina Traoré, quizás se abra la puerta de jugar con un falso nueve y ahí Antony también destaca.
Aunque parece cantado que su posición en el equipo será su natural, la de extremo derecho, no es de extrañar que le pueda ver de segunda punta, como ha pasado en numerosas ocasiones con Quincy Promes.
En definitiva, Antony es un talento con clase, técnica, carácter, veloz y con una polivalencia envidiable, que espera triunfar en la Eredivisie como otros compatriotas suyos en el pasado (Ronaldo Nazario o Romario). Todo apunta que ha ido al mejor proyecto posible y ahora solo depende de su adaptación al fútbol europeo para que el espectador juzgue si estamos ante uno de los futuros cracks del fútbol mundial.
