Enric Gallego vuelve a La Liga Smartbank para jugar en el Tenerife. El cuadro insular necesitaba un delantero centro y finalmente ha apostado por el catalán tras el interés de varios equipos de la categoría, entre ellos Leganés y Zaragoza. ¿Podrá recuperar el nivel que mostró en el Extremadura tras unos inicios de carrera en los que tuvo que compaginar varios trabajos? ¿Volverá el Tenerife a meterse en unos play off de ascenso? Enric Gallego, el obrero del gol
Debido a sus inicios humildes, no comenzó a apostar por el fútbol de verdad hasta que firmó por el Badalona en Segunda B. Más tarde pasó por el Olot y el Cornellá, donde ya había jugado en una cesión previa desde el Espanyol B años antes. Gracias a los 18 goles que anotó en la 16/17 el Extremadura, que estaba haciendo un proyecto enfocado al ascenso, se fijó en él. Era la primera experiencia de Enric fuera de Cataluña y a pesar del acercamiento, no fue hasta el mercado de invierno cuando firmó por el conjunto extremeño. Esa temporada acabó anotando 29 goles, 18 en la primera vuelta con el Cornellá y 11 en la segunda, logrando el ascenso con el Extremadura.
En su debut en La Liga Smartbank, rompió todos los pronósticos y se convirtió en el pichichi con 15 goles, lo que le valió firmar por el Huesca en el mercado de invierno, es decir, en un año había pasado de jugar en Segunda B en su zona de confort a debutar en Primera División. De hecho mantuvo durante la mayor parte de la competición el pichichi de Segunda a pesar de haberse ido. Además, su proyección no paró ahí, ya que en el verano siguiente firmó por el Getafe para jugar Europa League, y tras no convencer a Bordalás, terminó en Osasuna para recalar en este mercado en el Tenerife tras rescindir contrato.

Enric Gallego y la decisión que cambió su carrera
El fichaje por el Extremadura le cambió la vida, ya que le permitió debutar en el fútbol profesional y hacerse un hueco en Primera División. La relación entre jugador, equipo y afición fue idílica, hasta el punto que debutó con un hat-trick en 8 minutos contra el Córdoba B o anotó frente al eterno rival, el Mérida, en un partido clave para meterse en los play off de ascenso. Marcó goles hasta aburrirse, entre ellos uno de chilena, y se destapó en Segunda División con otro hat-trick ante el Rayo Majadahonda o un póker ante el Reus poco antes de su desaparición.
«Llegar al Extremadura cambió para siempre mi carrera. No fue fácil decidirme porque estaba bien en el Cornellá, pero es la mejor decisión que he tomado en mi vida. Fue increíble. Todo, todo. De pluriempleado a jugar en Primera División
Tal y como le contó a Rodrigo Morán, antes de explotar en La Liga Smartbank tuvo que trabajar como camionero, transportista, instalador de aires acondicionados, obrero de la construcción o gestor de bicis de alquiler. De hecho, hasta los 22 años ni siquiera había pisado la Tercera catalana y jugaba en Segunda regional con sus amigos a los 20. Desde entonces comenzó una progresión que no tuvo fin. Al año siguiente, Enric se fue al Alzamora, de la Primera Regional catalana. Marcó 16 goles y cuando por fin un ojeador fue a verle, no se presentó. Sin embargo su entrenador le llevó a probar en el Premiá de Tercera División y acabaron firmándole.
En ese momento Enric trabajaba de camionero y repartidor en la empresa del primo de su mujer. A diario se iba al puerto de Barcelona a recoger paquetes que tenía que repartir por Cataluña e incluso Francia, llegando a dormir en alguna ocasión en la litera del camión. Estuvo dos años hasta que despuntó con el Premiá y el Espanyol B se fijó en él. Tras estar a punto de salirse de la carretera dos veces antes de la llamada del club perico, Enric decidió apostar por el fútbol. Aunque siguió compaginando trabajos hasta los 27 años cuando lo firmó el Badalona, fue uno de los puntos de inflexión de su carrera.
¿Cómo juega Enric Gallego?
Enric Gallego es uno de esos delanteros de toda la vida. Con su 1,90 posee un gran juego aéreo que le permite imponerse a los defensas a la hora de rematar y jugar de espaldas para retener el balón y beneficiar a los compañeros que lleguen desde segunda línea. Es por ello que encaja también en el Tenerife, que destaca por tener en esa zona a Álex Corredera, Sam Shashoua o Rubén Díez entre otros. Tras no tener apenas minutos en Osasuna, volver a La Liga Smartbank le puede ayudar a recuperar sensaciones a sus casi 35 años, siendo uno de los viejos rockeros de la categoría. Con los años ha perdido velocidad, que muchas veces no era tenida en cuenta por su físico, pero que gracias a su zancada le permitía ganar muchos duelos en carrera y ser todavía más autosuficiente, recordando a delanteros como Borja Iglesias.
Hay que ser pacientes, pero esta temporada el Tenerife ilusiona, y no es poco ya que sigue invicto tras estas 4 primeras jornadas, por lo que Enric Gallego puede ser la guinda que necesita Ramis.
