Pathé Ciss ha pasado del ostracismo a ser pieza clave en el Fuenlabrada desde que La Liga Smartbank se reanudó tras el parón. De Senegal a Fuenlabrada pasando por Portugal
Pathé Ciss comenzó su carrera en su país natal, Senegal, en la academia del Diambars FC de Saly, equipo de la primera división senegalesa. En la 17/18 fichó por el União Madeira, uno de los equipos más viejos de Portugal, aunque no está habituado a jugar en Liga NOS. De hecho firmó junto a otros compañeros como Alhassane Sylla, que a día de hoy juega en la tercera división francesa. Tras su buen curso varios equipos de la Liga NOS querían obtenerle en propiedad además del propio Famalicão. En cambio, el Fuenlabrada se adelantó a ellos y lo fichó cedido en su debut en La Liga Smartbank. Tras comenzar la temporada como suplente habitual, con el despido de Mere, la llegada de Sandoval y el parón de la competición por la pandemia, cambió su papel en el equipo y se convirtió en indiscutible cuando se reanudó la liga.
Su buen rendimiento, que se ha prolongado esta temporada, hizo que el Fuenlabrada ejerciera la opción de compra que tenía sobre él, aunque se desconoce la cifra. Además, ya ha generado interés en el Getafe, que ha estado cerca de su fichaje en estos dos últimos mercados, pero el Fuenlabrada se ha mantenido firme y se ha quedado.

Con el despido de Mere se produce un punto de inflexión en la carrera de Pathé Ciss. Hasta ese momento, el entrenador gaditano había apostado por los dos mediocentros que le habían dado el ascenso el año anterior, Cristóbal Márquez y Pablo Clavería. Con la llegada de Sandoval justo antes del parón de la competición, Pathé Ciss gana importancia de forma inmediata, quitándole minutos sobre todo a Pablo Clavería, que saldría en verano rumbo a Cartagena por su pérdida de peso en el equipo.
El senegalés pasó de no contar prácticamente nada a ser fundamental en el sistema del Fuenlabrada. José Ramón Sandoval, que fue despedido meses más tarde por las malas sensaciones del equipo, hizo de padre del jugador africano y le convirtió en uno de los mejores centrocampistas de La Liga Smartbank. Su relación se refleja con la celebración del gol que anotó frente al Albacete esta temporada, en la que Sandoval hizo un baile antes de fundirse en un abrazo con Pathé Ciss. A día de hoy con José Luis Oltra, su nuevo entrenador, sigue siendo importante.

Pathé Ciss y su explosión en Fuenlabrada
Todos los entrenadores que han pasado por el Fuenlabrada en su etapa en La Liga Smartbank han apostado normalmente por un 4-2-2, compacto y con las líneas juntas. Pathé Ciss rompe el estigma del centrocampista africano, ya que es mucho más que un recuperador, es una ceiba que crece en el césped del Fernando Torres y abarca mucho campo, pero sin dejar de brillar en otros aspectos de su juego. Destaca por su capacidad de salir de las presiones gracias a su buen control del balón. Esto le permite completar el 78% de regates por partido sin llegar a ser un especialista en la conducción. Sacando el balón desde atrás no es un jugador brillante pero cumple su función con un 79% de acierto en el pase.
Tampoco es un mediocentro enfocado al gol, pero aún así ha anotado 1 gol y ha repartido 1 asistencia en lo que llevamos de liga, dos partidos en los que su equipo ganó y empató, es decir, cada vez que Pathé Ciss produce en esa faceta, su equipo no pierde. Su gen competitivo hace que gane el 55% de duelos individuales por partido, muestra de sus virtudes tanto en el juego aéreo como con el balón en tierra.
En defensa destaca por su capacidad posicional, lo que le permite robar 1,4 balones por anticipación o intercepción, aunque también es un jugador propenso a las entradas, realizando 2 por encuentro. En cambio, tiene una falta de lectura notable a la hora de ir a los balones divididos, lo que le lleva a llegar tarde en muchas ocasiones, provocando expulsiones.
