El central de Gasteiz llamó la atención del Athletic en la 16/17, cuando dejó el juvenil del Santutxu y fichó por el Basconia, que está afiliado a los leones. En la temporada siguiente sube al Bilbao Athletic aunque no juega prácticamente nada en su debut en Segunda B.
En cambio en la campaña siguiente se hace indiscutible disputando 32 de 38 encuentros posibles. Además llega a ser convocado con el primer equipo a pesar de no contar con minutos. Esto le da un cartel y una importancia dentro del club enorme. A pesar de que en el próximo curso no pudo tener continuidad debido a las lesiones, sigue siendo convocado con el primer equipo puntualmente y renueva hasta 2023 justo antes de salir cedido al Mirandés.

Vivian, la revelación de La Liga Smartbank
El Mirandés había ascendido a La Liga Smartbank en la 19/20 tras quedarse cerca la temporada anterior y lo firma cedido para una campaña. El club de Miranda de Ebro necesitaba una reconstrucción tras su buen curso en liga y sobre todo en Copa del Rey, debido a que casi todos sus futbolistas acababan contrato o terminaban cesión, y su entrenador Andoni Iraola se iba al Rayo Vallecano. Llega José Alberto tras su paso por las categorías inferiores del Sporting para dirigir al primer equipo.
Vivian fue de los primeros jugadores en llegar a Anduva y fue presentado junto a Javi Jiménez. Su llegada pasó desapercibida debido a los numerosos fichajes del Mirandés y el desconocimiento de la Segunda B, ha provocado que su impacto haya sido aún mayor.
¿Cuál es su encaje en el Mirandés?
En el Mirandés está jugando como central diestro en un 4-2-3-1 que no cambia de estructura, sino de perfil de futbolistas dependiendo del partido. La defensa ha variado muy poco desde el comienzo de temporada, con Víctor Gómez fijo en el lateral derecho y Berrocal como central izquierdo. El lateral izquierdo es la posición que más peleada puede estar, aunque parece que Javi Jiménez se ha impuesto a Bojan Letic.
Vivian no solo se ha hecho titular indiscutible, sino que se ha convertido en capitán tras las suplencias de Limones en la portería y Carlos Julio en el lateral. Es el líder de la zaga y aunque pueda parecer extraño, no ha contado para Luis de la Fuente en sus convocatorias para la selección española sub 21. El Mirandés en ese sentido está contento, ya que los futbolistas de La Liga Smartbank se pierden jornadas cuando se van con sus combinados nacionales.

¿Está preparado Daniel Vivian para jugar en el Athletic?
El problema de Vivian es la competencia que tendrá en el Athletic. Un central prometedor como Unai Núñez lo está pasando mal para tener continuidad y a Vivian le puede pasar algo parecido. Íñigo Martínez y Yeray Álvarez son fijos y eso dificulta la repartición de minutos. Por ello, una nueva cesión a un club de La Liga Santander puede ser la mejor opción.
Dos equipos que podrían estar interesados son el Eibar y el Alavés. Dos clubes de la zona, con buena relación y en los cuales puede hacerse con un hueco. En el Eibar destacaría en el estilo de Mendilibar jugando con muchos metros a su espalda y podría aprovechar que no hay nadie indiscutible. En cambio en el Alavés, en la línea de tres de Pablo Machín, también se podría adaptar bien como central diestro, saliendo siempre de posición para tapar las subidas del carrilero, algo parecido a lo que ocurre con Víctor Gómez en el Mirandés.
¿Cómo juega Vivian?
Es difícil encontrarle defectos a Vivian más allá de la impulsividad de la que peca en algunas acciones por su juventud. Físicamente es un central dominante. Con su 1,83 de altura puede salir continuamente de zona para salir en cobertura, ir al corte o defender con muchos metros a su espalda. Simplemente hay que ver el dato: en el partido contra el Sporting llegó a los 34,4 km/h de velocidad punta, muy cerca de los 34,91 del mismísimo Iñaki Williams, el más rápido de La Liga.
En el cuerpo a cuerpo es un jugador muy contundente, y a pesar de su juventud está bastante formado. En el juego aéreo defensivo suele imponerse con facilidad, y aunque no marca muchos goles cuando sube al rematar, sí que es un futbolista a tener en cuenta en ese sentido. Su capacidad de liderazgo es indudable, y su capacidad posicional, aunque es mejorable, es bastante buena y la corrige con su velocidad y agilidad. Con pelota es aseado pero no es de los mejores de la categoría en ese aspecto, aunque también es algo que puede ir desarrollando poco a poco.
Vivian es un central moderno de los que faltan en España, sobre todo pensando en la retirada de Sergio Ramos de la selección. No descartemos verle en los próximos años yendo convocado sabiendo que Pau Torres en la 18/19 estaba jugando en el Málaga cedido por el Villarreal y ahora es titular indiscutible para Luis Enrique.
